Life Lessons from a 10 year old

This morning I took C13 to Dallas for his volunteer job. I only had A1 with me, so I went to Mardel's and piddled around looking at curriculum and coming to some really awesome conclusions on the way home while have a quiet time with God. Big P had been left with P10, B5, and L3 in his charge. I didn't have my cell phone with me (can you believe it?), so no one could contact me with questions about lunch, etc. So, when I got home, I realized that Big P had made hot dogs for lunch. The same hot dogs that were going to be used for another meal. He hadn't read the menu that said PB&J for lunch today.

So, the conversation went something like this:

Me: Those hot dogs were going to be for another meal this week.

Big P: Well, I didn't know and I couldn't call you to ask. I'll get you some more hot dogs.

Me: It's on the menu on the fridge. Your impromptu meals end up messing up the week of menus I plan. (I said this kind of laughingly, but I was serious - read previous post where I explain that my sins are VERY evident sometimes).

P10: Mom, remember when you were listening to that thing the other day (she's talking about Todd Wilson and the Lies Homeschoolers Believe) and he said that if you say anything about the meals that dad makes, he won't ever make them again and he'll say "fine, do it yourself".

Big P: Fine, do it yourself (with a smirk)

Me: You're right, P. I'm sorry. Thank you for making lunch for them.

Me to Big P: It's pretty sad when your 10yo daughter has to remind you how to be a thankful and submissive wife!

Randomness

I'm just going to compile a few random thoughts... (that's how my mind works, in case you haven't figured that out yet - randomness)

Was I surprised about the election? No. This is what I figured would happen. Obama really said many things many people wanted to hear. Well, they wanted Change - they are going to get it. We are all going to get it.

Our church is having a prayer service tonight to pray for our nation's future. I'm sorry that I won't be able to attend. There isn't a nursery and with Big P working at night, it's just too much for me with all the littles.

So, I'll be praying here. We are seeking God's direction for what we should do to prepare for the changes that our country may be facing. For months there has been talk about homeschool parents needing a degree to teach their children (since that thing in California). Big P proposed to me this morning that we need to think about me pursuing a teaching certificate. Although we totally and fully believe in the Sovereignty of God, we also believe that He wants us to abide by the law (unless that law disagrees with His law, of course). There may come a time that I will need that certificate in order to teach my children at home. I'd rather be in the offense than the defense. One minor problem - you have to have a Bachelor's degree before you get a teaching certificate. Hmmmm.... don't have one of those. So, yes, I'd be starting from scratch. Thankfully we know about College Plus and course credit via the CLEP and Dantes.

On to another subject....

The challenges over at Scrap Matters are incredible. This Monday a challenge was posted by Britt to do a layout on a movie (favorite, recently seen, etc.). Although I would have never thought to do a layout on Fireproof before, this really was an important thing for us and so I did.... (this will go into Things We Do) when I get my Library of Memories set up. Image is linked for credits or if you want to read the journaling.


I'm done with my little sister's pages for her birthday. She's not really little - she's going to be 24 on Saturday. I can't reveal those yet, though.

I ordered all the pages for B.2.B.'s baby book. So excited to get those. They will be going into a Creative Memories album. I have some pages from what was going to be B's baby album along with some wedding pages and I'll just be taping my digital layouts on top of those. I'm having them printed on a glossy paper, in the width of a CM album, so I think it will work well.

I'm seriously considering going to the 3 ring American Crafts albums that Stacy Julian suggests. Either those or the Stampin' Up albums. Hmm, decisions decisions.

I've been working on some Slow and Steady Get Me Ready activities with the boys. I hope to scrap pictures of those tonight during the speed scrap.

Well, I need to feed my crew, so I better get.

Scrapmatters Birthday & Fireproof

Scrapmatters is turning 1 year old. Of course, I haven't been digi-scrapping that long, but I have found a great place to hang out (and purchase some great goodies when $ and needs permit). I have received a ton of freebies for doing various challenges around the forum as well.

Anyway - here's the link to Scrapmatters blog, the forum, and best of all the shop! They have a collab and a blog train and and! LOL

We've got a big day ahead of us, so I won't be able to participate in the chats and such. We are doing a lot of work around the property and the house. And we will be leaving at 1:45 to drop the little boys off at my in-loves hose and we are going to the movies! yes! Fireproof comes out today. Please be in prayer for this movie and those who will see it. The salvation message in this movie is HUGE. Pray specifically that Satan will not have a foothold at all anywhere near the theaters it is showing in, that it will do awesome this weekend and will thus go into other theatres, and that God will receive all the glory!

Most Incredible Man and Speed Scrap

Have I mentioned lately that I'm married to the most incredible man in the universe? Now, I know that many of you will argue with me, but he's really the most incredible man FOR ME! Today, I made lunch early and we got most of our schoolwork done, because I wanted to participate in the Speed Scrap at Scrapmatters. We had a lunch of yummy totally from scratch chili with beans. After lunch we were able to have a great Biblical and theological discussion with our big kids, which was absolutely wonderful. We even got to practice our verses of James 1:1-11 with Dad. Then the big kids cleaned up while I nursed Aiden. Big P put the little boys to bed and then we had about 30 minutes to sit and talk, with just the two of us! He helped me get ready for the speed scrap, because he knew it was important to me!!! I just love that about him!

And the speed scrap, which was my first by the way, was soooo much fun! You are giving 7 instruction 10 minutes apart. Then after the last instruction is given, you have 1 hour to complete your layout. Your are to be working on gathering your things as the instructions are given. Today's instructions were to pick a piece of paper using 1 color from your country's flag to commemorate 9/11. You could only use 1 photo, but had to use it twice on your layout. You had to use 4 flowers, frames on each photo, fasteners (I used the tape), some bling (I used the glittle swirly and the beads), and have wordart, but no journaling. It was a fast paced race, because you were trying to anticipate where she was going with the layout. Above us what I came up with and I'm so excited about how it turned out. It was a challenge and took me outside my box.

And it happens to feature my #1 fan and THE MOST INCREDIBLE MAN IN THE WORLD!

Fireproof - The Movie

I want to share about the new movie from the creators of Facing the Giants. It's called Fireproof and I think it is going to be incredible. I believe it is going to change lives and marriages!!! We are going on the 26th, the day it comes out and my parents are coming with it. Watch the trailer and tell me you aren't excited about this! And with all this fire stuff, C.12.B. has finished the script for his movie. We'll be shooting that soon!

Oh, I also have to say that there is a kissing scene in the movie and you'll notice that Chelsey is not Kirk's wife in the movie. Yet, he won't do a kissing scene with another woman. So, what did he do, you may ask?! He flew Chelsey in to do the shadowed kissing scene. What a guy! My Big P would do that for me!!!! :) I'm so blessed!

What Big P made for me

Big P built me a page on our website. It's our personal website, so I won't share it here, but I will tell you about it.

He has been learning how to build websites - along with C.12.B. He built a page that has pictures of us when we were little and says how he was waiting for me! :) It's so sweet. It sings, too - Air Supply!!!

I love it and it is truly one of the best presents he has ever given me. It took him a while and it was geared towards what I like. So, that's what made it so much more special!! :)

Twelve Years in the Making

Big P and I will celebrate 12 years of glorious marriage on Sunday, the 10th. We are still happy and so blessed! So I made this layout to commemorate. I also have another thing, but I can't divulge it here. He reads! :)
